Thing #23 - Wrapping Up
BOB DYLAN'S - "IT'S ALL OVER NOW, BABY BLUE" (LIVE 1965)
Wow, what a ride!! Even though I was frustrated at times throughout my OCl Web Challenge, I really learned a lot. I loved being creative at the "Things" I enjoyed, such as playing in the sandbox, Youtube, finding and adding widgets, Flickr (pictures), learned to use a scanner, and oddly enough, this was the first time I used a Blog and Blogged for myself and to others. When I am working with the Children's Librarian, maybe we can use the sandbox to communicate about different activities.
Thanking the OCL Challenge for getting me up with the times and Web 2.0. Without this "Challenge", I would have never searched-out these different technologies available on the Web. I always say I learn something new everyday I work at OCL due to the intelligence of our patrons who read endlessly, and our well-rounded employees who also posses many high qualities and contribute endlessly to our community.
Thing #22 - Listening NJ
I found after 45 minutes, it was too much work to download and listen to a book. I listed to "Green Eggs and Ham", and "The Secret Garden". There were many steps involved to get to actually listen. I had to add the book I chose to the "Cart", "Proceed to Checkout", and download to listen... way too much work. I would always prefer to read a book, instead of listening. Although, when I'm older and my eyesight starts to go, I may enjoy this feature. I also did not enjoy the psychedelic colors moving around on the screen--made my eyes tired.
Thing #21 - Finding and Listening to Podcasts
http://b.media.abcnews.com/podcasts/080513_nwo_medicalminute_heredity_breast_cancer.mp3
Podcasting is interesting, but not something I would use on a regular basis. I looked into the Health Link and listened to "Breast Cancer: An Inherited Risk" under "Medical Minute", and it was enlightening information. I do like the idea of being able to listen to a "one minute" update on a specific medical condition at my fingertips. I currently do not own a MP3 Player to download on. I believe teens really would utilize this website.

#20- YouTube
YouTube is fun to watch, although I would never post a video. I also don't agree with some of the postings, but that's what makes the world-go-round. The video Evolution of Dance is so funny. Done by a comedian who has all the right moves through the generations.

Thing #19 - Web 2.0
Web 2.0 gives you the latest awards on different catagories of all sorts. ( Listing # of stars, etc. )
Farecast.com for travel was interesting to me and gives you the best fares for when and where to travel. Some of these sites require money to join, although many are free. I will return to register with some of interest to me. This is a very good source to direct links, without wasting time and energy. Will recommend this to family and friends.

#18- Google Docs and Zoho
Google Docs is a great set-up for almost anyone in business, or for personal use. One document with chosen invited users who can make changes, while proof reading and adding to it, making the final copy quick and accessible. Presentation is neat and viewable to everyone invited.
Zoho is better for business in my opinion. Very useful for creating spreadsheets for meetings, making planners, and taking polls. Live meetings with friends/co-workers is very exciting by internet without leaving your home or office.

#17- Play in the Sandbox
Loved playing in the sandbox! This was the most fun by far, by adding to the many lists of favorites by other viewers. Loved changing the font, colors, script, adding pictures, etc. Like we said before, playing is the easiest by far!

Thing #14 More Technorati
Technorati was hard to understand. Where do these technical terms come from? Boing Boing is weird. What do these blogs have to do with what I'm looking for?? Maybe the Library reference area would find this more useful. I am probably behind the technorati times.
#16- Wikis
When I went into Wikis, I looked into Displays for Libraries. Found this very interesting with great ideas and visuals that could be used in our branch. Fun to look at different set-ups.

Thing #15- Web 2.0
Web 2.0 is the second generation of the web. This is where the web has improved over time and now offers services like blogs, wiki’s, social networking sites... great for the library reference, but kind of too much work for individual usage.
Thing #13- Delicious

Thing #12
Net Library: Would be useful when you are researching and looking for another source. This is a way to read a book online without actually having your hands on the book.
Worldcat: Easy to use. Fiction and non-fiction. Shows closest location to find book and gives a good description, including all detailed information, such as ISBN, for purchasing convenience later, or for buying online at this sight now.

Thing #11
http://www.librarything.com/catalog/Jbug213
This is a great tool of keeping track of what you read, and what you want to read. Also, it is interesting reading other comments from users who like the same authors as yourself.

Thing #10

Finding Feeds - Challenge #9
Topix-net: This was the easiest to use
Syndic 8: Confusing. Had to use search box- could not find directly.
Technorati: Great information, interesting reading other bloggs

RSS Feeds Challenges 8
When I did my RSS Bloglines and added my feeds, I found that most of the websites I wanted to add, were not subscribed. After finding sites that were compatable, I do feel it is great to have all at your fingertips on one sheet.
It is very helpful for library purposes also, for research work.

7 habits
The easiest step for me is to play. The hardest step is technology- it is constantly changing.
